Hiking With Kids Means First Aid Kit In Hiking Gear |

One of the most important pieces in my hiking gear is a first aid kit. The reason for this is that we have three kids that come along with us when we are hiking. The kids love hiking. They have their own hiking gear and do a great job of keeping up, climbing over large hills, and do not mind camping in the woods. In fact, they like that part the best! However, being kids they tend to fall, get cut, and be covered in bruises. A first aid kit in my hiking gear really helps out!
Each year, we take a week long hiking trip through the northern part of the Appalachian Trail. We love the Appalachian Trail because it is a place to see a lot of different wildlife, and experience different terrain. We usually start in the White Mountains in New Hampshire and end up at Baxter Peak in Maine. Loaded down with hiking gear, we took off along the trail. We take our time and it usually takes about a week. However, one particular trip took a little longer as the kids were very accident prone. Falling over stumps, getting hit with branches, and even burned by floating fire embers were all things that we had to take care of with the first aid kit in my hiking gear.
It all started when we took our first child onto the trail with us. We usually had a small first aid kit just in case, but I had never used it. However, this time we used just about all of the things in the first aid kit. The only thing we didn't use was the bee sting ointment. (Although that changed in the following years. Knowing that we were going to be hiking a lot, we needed to find a place where we could stock up on hiking gear, especially in first aid kits.
My wife loves to research and shop online. So, the quest for hiking gear was up to her. She found a great website called KE Active Lifestyle at www.kayserenterprises.ispeedway.com. At this online shopping center she buys all of our hiking gear and even loads up on first aid kits. We usually buy the larger Atwater Carey Expedition Medical First Aid Kit. It is a little bigger than personal kits, but for our hiking gear, it is needed. Usually, each trip means we use most of it. That's alright. At least the kids are having fun! Plus, we always know that KE Active Lifestyle will carry the first aid kits we need. |
