camping outdoors, outdoor sportThis afternoon I'm joining my niece and nephew who are camping outdoors close to my home. I live on the edge of the city and there is BLM land that people can use for camping and trail riding on horses, dirt bikes, and four wheelers. They found an area where they are tucked away, but since their cell phone works out there, I'll call them when I turn off the highway and they can guide me. It's so quiet in that location that they will be able to hear me coming.

They love camping outdoors and my nephew's wife is an incredibly good cook so we have high expectations for Easter Sunday dinner today. She is baking a ham underground and using her cast iron pans to cook the rest. I am going to bring along my latest camping cookbook, the Camp Chef Outdoor Cooking Guide. I'm sure that she doesn't have it, and I like to share my vast collection of cookbooks.

I love cookbooks and indulge myself in them. I got this one because we do a lot of camping outdoors, too, and thought it would be full of good recipes and cooking tips for using a campfire and cast iron to pull off delicious food. It has 100 recipes and I've learned a lot from it. She just might enjoy reading some of the tips and recipes and if she does, I'll order a copy for her, too. Cookbooks don't take up much room in the camping gear and what I like about having this cookbook is that it makes it easy for me to buy groceries and plan meals for camping outdoors.

I bought mine at KE Active Lifestyle at http://kayserenterprises.ispeedway.com, a great site for people who like outdoor sports and camping. They have a lot of products geared to active people. I went back to make sure the cookbook is still there and it is. I think it's really fun to give people spontaneous gifts and if she likes this one, I'll leave it with her and keep the new one I'll order for myself. We don't have any plans for camping outdoors in the near future, so I can wait for a few days before I have the book.

I used this cookbook last summer, too, when it was just too hot to cook in the house. In spite of the 100+ temperatures outside, we ate very well because we were able to use our barbecue to make just about everything we wanted to eat, so we saved money on eating out and were able to spend that money on turning down the air conditioning and having a nice, cool house.
