camping gear, outdoor sportThe kids are home this week because it's spring break, and they wanted to go through the camping gear last night to make sure that we are ready to roll once the snow melts in the mountains and the temperatures in Phoenix climb into the 90's. I had to admit, it was a good idea, so we headed to the garage to see what camping gear we needed to launder or replace for a new season of camping outdoors, our favorite outdoor sport.

Almost immediately, the kids insisted that we get new bath towels for our camping gear because the old ones are rough and getting thin. Our kids love fresh, fluffy towels, so while I had to agree with them that the towels were showing their wear, I decided to use them for the pool this summer and replace the camping gear towels like they suggested. When we're camping, we like to have little touches of luxury, and brand new towels provide that; when we swim at home, all we want to do is get dry, so if our towels aren't just perfect, it doesn't matter. All that really counts is that they wick away the water quickly so we can let the sun warm us back up.

Here in Phoenix getting out of the pool is a startling experience; the temperature might be over 100, but the humidity is so low that we chill immediately and anything feels good to get the water off. When we're camping outdoors, we take hot showers each day and we're not so desperate to get the water off because the water warms us and we don't cool off nearly as fast as getting out of the pool.

I turned to the web to find good deals on towels and found these Dry Branch Beach Towels online this morning. I ordered four of them and the kids should be happy about them. They come in many colors, so each of us will have our choice. They were an excellent value and I ordered them in plenty of time for camping this spring and summer. There's still four feet of snow in our favorite camp ground, so we have at least two or three weeks before we head up north to enjoy the pine trees.
